Killer Investigators, Fender Benders, Bug Bites & Wyzdom

Hey Fam and Friends!
Sent Kizzer a a "one in a Minion" box of goodies

This week was yes.... Crazy! We have been running like weirdos getting things done and teaching lessons. We had an awesome lesson with Adam this week. We taught last week about the word of wisdom and he kind of freaked out about not drinking tea. So we told him to think and pray about it and that we would see him on Tuesday. We planned to teach him the Ten Commandments and share bout the importance of them. So we taught them and he didn't know any of them! In this case I completely understood why he didn't know them because he was raised without church in his lives and in another country but I have to wonder how much kids do really know and understand about the Ten Commandments these days? We talk to so many kids that are saying swear words and that they don't believe in God anymore. We saw a sign for another church that said "Dad’s ( for Father's Day) teach your children to worship"   It's so true. What are we teaching our children these days?!

Also, Timothy is doing awesome! He came to a mission fireside last night and loved it and also asked if he could move his baptismal date forward to July 10th instead of July 11th! Super proud of him! He and brother west will now be baptized on the same day! Whoo!

It was so weird because we got out and literally no scratches (good job Ford Fusion) and then we looked in front of us and see the damage of the other two cars. I didn't get a fine it was just a fender bender.
Anyway, Adam said that he was thinking about it and said that he would follow the word of wisdom!  We were so proud of him. He is so shy, my goodness! But then he didn't show up for church, oh well we will chastise and then inspire him to come next week.
We went to go to a teaching appointment and he didn't open the door so we started to leave when Sister Patterson says, "Hey look, it's a spider ring" I looked and realized it wasn't a spider ring, it was a black widow!! Oh my goodness she was so excited and this black mamba was huge! And Sister Patterson was so excited to see it that she whips out her iPad and starts to take pictures with it! And she got her head like five inches close to the spider and was taking selfies! I thought she was crazy, then she pushed it on the ground and squashes it! This entire time I'm freaking because, she is crazy and I have never seen a black widow before. Later on when we show the picture to the Thorn’s.  Sister Thorn says "hey that spider can kill you!" Then Sister Paterson says "oh." And I told her that was why I was freaking out so much was because it was the most poisonous spider in the world. Oh well….

The rest of the day I got bit by as many mosquitos as possible and looked like a cricket as I rubbed my legs together to itch them when we talked to people! Bugs are gross here, but not as bad as they could be!

(What could have been Big Scary News)

Something else that happened this week, we got in a car accident on Friday ha ha we are perfectly fine! :)  Needless to say I won't be driving for three months because I lost the privilege but Sister Patterson and I walked away without a scratch but the other cars are damaged. I feel so bad that it happened. A car pulled out in front of the two cars in front of us, it was completely random and made them stop. We turned and looked to watch for a split second why he would do such a dumb thing and next thing we knew the back of a man’s car hit the front of ours!

I ended up going there with Sister Bush and it is normally a car area but they bike a lot! I was stoked because I haven't biked a full day since I have been here, so that is exactly what happened. We probably biked six miles all day but it was on busy highways.... And the hills probably exceeded any that I had ever biked before.

All day people were rejecting us and our message and many didn't even give us an opportunity to say anything. So I guess you could say I was a little bitter all day. I had already taken a hard nap at dinner, and was ready to go home and was just dog tired while riding through a neighborhood when we come up to a couple that were walking their dogs.  We asked to share with them a card and an important message and they willingly listened! They said that what we shared was great to hear and accepted a Book of Mormon to take home! They promised with truth that they would read it and give us a call! I know that people had rejected Us All day but for the split opportunity that some one person was willing to listen was so heart touching! Even after the midst of a great trial, Heavenly Father rained down a blessing! So cool!
The people and cops completely understood and the situation went really well for a fender bender! The cops even said it was the most pleasant accident report they ever had to fill out and we even handed them a card and shared a message about the gospel and they were glad to hear it ha ha.... Anyway yeah that is what happened and that I am doing alright :)!

We had exchanges with our lovely sister this week in Harmony, KY.

Something that Sister Johnson taught me was how to be obedient. It was Heavenly Father’s simple reminder that I must do so much better than I have been doing! I am grateful for those simple clear impressions that Heavenly Father knows will help make us grow! It's like having a personal trainer as my constant companion, so cool!

Lastly we had a great Sunday this last week because Tracy came to church with one of her nieces and her daughter Wyzdom! They loved church and when any of the teachers asked for someone to read, she raised her and would just begin reading! She is awesome! And her niece and nephews accepted a baptismal date and we are meeting with them at the end of sis week! So cool!

This work is challenging but refining! I am grateful to be in it! I love you all and have a stupendous week!

*To the Reader:  I am lucky enough still follow Katelyn’s last companion and BFF, Sister Hannah who was transferred to Somerset, KY.  This is an excerpt from her most recent email – very cool info!

The letter with the little girl hugging the savior is something I needed so BADLY yesterday! Thank you so much mommy for everything!

OH MY GOODNESS AND THEN THERE IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE MIRACLE IN SISTER HANNAH's LIFE.

This one goes straight back to Richmond with Sister Jones.  There was a college student named Samantha that we were trying to find.  Her address was EKU's campus address... do you know how many dorms are on EKU? A LOT. A LOT.
So one day we were teaching a lesson (during finals week, so school gets out in a few days at this point) and saw a girl struggling with carrying a case of water.  We helped her carry it up to her dorm, introduced ourselves and she told us that her roommate was Mormon.  Turns out her roommate was SAMANTHA!! The girl we had been looking for for 3 months!!!!! YES!!
Ok, so that is miracle #1.
THEN, school ends and everyone leaves.  Richmond is deserted.  Transfers. Sister Hannah comes to Somerset.  When I first got here, I went through all of our records and this name, Samantha, kept popping up.  I was curious if it was her and after asking around, this was the Samantha that we had records of in Richmond.  WAIT WHAT.  YEAH.  OK, so now I am DETERMINED to find this girl!!
We went on the hunt and her address on the Somerset records was wrong.. bummer.  Well, luckily for us, her grandma lives three doors down so we went over to say hi, introduce ourselves and ask her about Samantha.
We knock on the door and you will never guess who opened the door.  SAMANTHA!!! My jaw almost hit the floor.  WE FINALLY FOUND HER!! FINALLY!! Oh my goodness. This was the greatest tender mercy for me.
This girl is SO important to Heavenly Father and we finally found her.  We were able to set an appointment with her and came back, taught her, and committed her to read the Book of Mormon.  Seriously, if you say God isn't in the details of our lives, you are missing it! He is there, He is aware, He knows!! These are the tender mercies and miracles we live for! :) I know that God led me to Samantha, to find her and to help her regain activity!

The mission is absolutely incredible. I love every second of everyday.  Even when times get hard or tough, which they do, not going to lie, I just have to push through.  Everything is worth it when we are able to help bring souls back to Jesus Christ!!

So much love from the GKLM,
Sister Hannah
